NOHS Board of Directors - CALL FOR NOMINATIONS

We are excited to inform the NOHS Membership that the call for positions to serve on the National Board of Directors is open.  For our profession and national organization to remain strong, your involvement is vital.  The field of human services requires committed, competent, and compassionate professionals. NOHS, our national organization, also needs you to advance our collective agenda, promote our initiatives, and advocate for our profession.  Committing to service at the national level is critical to the advancement of human services.  So roll up your sleeves and consider joining the Board of Directors as we advance NOHS’s mission.

Please consider nominating yourself or a colleague for one of the following roles:

  • President
  • Secretary
  • Vice President for Regional Development
  • Vice President for Professional Development
  • Advocacy Chairperson (NOTE: This position was just added to the ballot for the membership's consideration.)

If you are interested in nominating yourself or a colleague please complete the online nomination packet.

The packet contains the following:

  1. Nomination Form
  2. Statement of rationale for interest in position (include brief history of work for the organization)
  3. Statement of vision for the organization

Timeline for Nominations and Elections:

  • Nominations are open between NOW and Friday, August 31, 2018.
    • Nominations will close on Friday, August 31 at 11:59pm EST.
  • Elections will take place between Saturday September 1, 2018 and Saturday September 15, 2018.
    • Voting instructions will be provided when the ballot is distributed to the membership.

Open Positions for 2018

Nominations for President
5.2 The President shall perform all duties normally incident to the office such as presiding over meetings  of  the  Board  of  Directors  and  the  annual  Membership meeting  and  shall  select recipients of the annual President's Awards. The President shall be elected in even numbered years.
 

Nominations for Secretary
5.7 The Secretary shall ensure the archiving of Bylaws, records of the National Organization, shall keep minutes of all meetings of the Board of Directors, and of annual Membership meeting.  All minutes of meetings shall be published to members of the board within 30 days of the conclusion of a board meeting. The Secretary shall be elected in even numbered years.

Additional duties include:

  • Attendance at all Board of Director (BOD) meetings (via phone throughout the year and in-person at the annual conference)
  • Provision of a report at all meetings (verbally for phone meetings and written for the in-person meeting at the annual conference)

Nominations for Vice President for Regional Development
5.4 The Vice President for Regional Development acts as a liaison between the National Organization  and  its  various  regions.  Such  duties  may  include  attendance  at  regional conferences, programmatic support to regions as they develop, and other support that regions may desire. The Vice President for Regional Development shall be elected in even numbered years.

Additional duties include:

  • Attendance at all Board of Director (BOD) meetings (via phone throughout the year and in-person at the annual conference)
  • Provision of a report at all meetings (verbally for phone meetings and written for the in-person meeting at the annual conference)
Nominations for Vice President for Professional Development

5.5 The Vice President for Professional Development and Education oversees continuing education and training for the membership. Duties include overseeing committees that acquire permission for continuing Education Units from appropriate professional organizations; offer continuing education opportunities in a variety of forms; and link members to certification opportunities. The VP or their designee serves on the Center for Credentialing and Education Recertification Committee. The Vice President for Professional Development and Education shall be elected in even numbered years.

  • Provision of a report at all meetings (verbally for phone meetings and written for the in-person meeting at the annual conference)

Nominations for Advocacy
6.3 The Advocacy Chairperson shall be responsible for facilitating all advocacy efforts of the Board, including managing the process by which issues are brought forward for Board consideration, monitoring national and international developments impacting the field, and liaising with affiliated regions on local issues that have national impact. The Advocacy Chairperson shall be elected in odd numbered years.
