The NOHS Vision: Strengthening recognition of the unique and valued role of human services professionals.

The NOHS Mission: By the year 2010, NOHS will approach its vision by:

  • Increasing professional development opportunities.
  • Completing and implementing the credentialing plan.
  • Increasing external communications.
  • Increasing internal communications.
  • Developing a public policy process and agenda.
  • Maintaining financial stability.


If you are a NOHS member and need assistance logging in, please contact the NOHS association manager using the CONTACT FORM . The new web site also features a more user-friendly membership database, which will allow you to conduct many transactions online. (Tip: The site has a system to help you create a new password. Click on "Recover Password" in the "Member Log-In" block, right.)

Northwest Region

NWHSA Regional Conference

April 27-29, 2007

Please join us at the 2007 Northwest Human Services Association's regional conference! This year's conference is hosted by the Family and Human Services Program at the University of Oregon in beautiful Eugene, Oregon.

Conference workshops are varied and professional sessions will offer continuing education credits. Social activities abound and local human service agencies will host receptions to allow a closer look into the social services network available to our community.

About NOHS

The National Organization for Human Services (NOHS) was founded in 1975 at the 5th Annual Faculty Development Conference of the Southern Regional Education Board. NOHS grew out of the perceived need by professional care providers and legislators for improved methods of service delivery. NOHS, with the early support of the National Institute of Mental Health and SREB, strives to promote excellence in Human Service delivery in an increasingly complex world.

Through the professional efforts of NOHS members, many programs of care have been developed to address unique social, behavioral, and educational issues in society. NOHS's focus improvements in direct service, public education, program development, planning and evaluation, administration and public policy.

General Information

The leading source for the latest research in the profession, Human Service Education is published once each year and distributed each fall to current members as part of NOHS's membership benefits. New members receive the current year's issue with their new member packet. Subscriptions are available for $40 annually. Contact the NOHS administrative office for subscription information.

Guidelines for Authors

Human Service Education (HSE) is a refereed journal. Manuscripts which are judged by the editors to fall within the range of interest of the journal will be submitted without the names and identifying information of the authors to reviewers.
