Howard Harris Professional Development Award 

The National Organization for Human Services honors Howard Harris's contributions to the field of human services. This award is bestowed upon a member of NOHS who demonstrates promise in the area of research and scholarship.  Nominees/applicants are typically in an academic setting and must be within the first five years of their careers.

Your application will be evaluated on the following criteria using a five-point scale where 5 = Outstanding and 1 = Doesn’t Meet

  • Current Member of NOHS
  • A complete application packet with no late materials
  • Evidence that the nominee is within first five years of career as a Human Services educator or practitioner
  • Resume / Vitae
  • Two letters of support from individuals who know the applicant’s work and can testify to the nominee’s accomplishments
  • Sample published article in a national human services journal
  • Sample grant proposal
  • Current plan for research contributing to the advancement of Human Services
  • Record of published scholarship in a nationally refereed journals focused on human services education or related human services issues
